Well Child Care

As babies and children mature, regularly scheduled “well-child” visits are essential for assessing their overall health, growth, and development. At every well-child visit, our pediatrician will evaluate your child’s physical, cognitive, emotional, and social development as well as age-relevant milestones.

To ensure that your child enjoys the benefits of optimal health, the American Academy of Pediatrics emphasizes the importance of preventive care. To protect children against specific infectious diseases, well-child visits include providing the required immunizations. Moreover, as part of a well-child visit, screening tests to assess vision, hearing, or exposure to disease or toxins are performed as indicated.

Well-child visits are also a time for the pediatricians at Carnegie Hill Pediatrics to provide guidance on important behaviors such as sleep hygiene, nutrition, and physical activity as well as strategies to help ensure safety, and the avoidance of harmful habits. Moreover, these visits offer an opportunity for parents, children and adolescents alike to ask any questions or voice any particular concerns about particular issues related to health and well-being.

While newborns and infants are scheduled more frequently for checkups, the recommended schedule of well-child appointments for children 15 months and older is as follows:

  • 15 months
  • 18 months
  • 24 months
  • 30 months
  • 3 years
  • Annually until the age of 21

At Carnegie Hill Pediatrics, we are dedicated to providing the highest quality of care to ensure the health and well-being of children.
